Geneology
Within the Kituwah Culture, one's lineage is important on both sides. However, prime importance is on the female's side because our Culture is Matriarchal. This means that any Children of said issuance "belongs" to the Mother primarily. The Child's lineage is based on what the Mother is - for example Kituwah and/or Cherokee. A good example is the Sachem's, whose Mother was born and raised on Starr Mountain which is in Polk County, TN. Her Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother (and so on) were born and/or raised within this area. They are Cherokee/Kituwah. A person who is Kituwah is one who follows the way of tradition - the old ways in both language and culture.
The History or Story Behind My Site
The major reason for this site about Geneology is for a person to understand that in Native American Culture, one's lineage is primarily followed on the Mother's side. Yes, the Father is important but one must remember that it is Matriarchal in Enden society rather than Patriarchal as it is in white society.
